Had to share our protest here in the Midwest where major chains ask for phone numbers, e-mail, AND social security numbers. What an invasion. And then they send along those coupons/promotions to entice you into the store - -some are great, and of course the cents off in store promotions are great too. So do we have to sacrifice our privacy. No -- When I complained to the store manager about the SS# question -- he said "Oh, you don't really need to fill in all of the informatin." I said oh, and a light bulb went off. So I filled out the application with a pseudonym -- and my address only. No phone number, no e-mail, no SS#, and actually no name either. So now I have my "econofood card" and a "Hy-vee card" and all they have is a fake name -- and I don't care what shopping habits they collect about her. Still delivered to my address are the coupons off and other promotions -- and I am tracking what else comes to the house addressed to my grocery chain personality. If you use this ploy -- please don't associate it with my name or e-mail. Thanks,
