Rob, I can only disagree with your use of "other people's" bar codes for one reason. That is the fact that I get monthly coupons mailed to my PO BOX from Giant. These are not manufacturer's coupons, they are Giant specific coupons. For example, 20% off a purchase at the deli counter, 10% off a purchase of $50 or more. You only receive these coupons via the mail and they are only good for a short period of time. Usually one week, some of them are good for the entire month. The people in your database who have used fictitious mailing addresses have never seen these coupons and never will. Giant doesn't really care because these people are still shopping at their stores, yet they are not using the discount coupons. So Giant is still willing where it costs to them: the bottom line. Is this extra savings worth a little bit of extra privacy? Or would you rather save the money and let Giant have more information on you? -- Jon Spreha jms@d-9.net
