INTJ-Open -- INTJ email list

About INTJ-Open
English (USA)

This is an email list by, for and about people who are INTJ according to the Myers-Briggs classification.

You don't have to be INTJ to be a member. Some of our long-time members are other types, most notably INTP. INFP sometimes has a fatal attraction as well.

You don't have to agree with the INTJ point of view (whatever that is) to be a member of the list. Be aware, however, that if the source of the difference of opinion is really type-related, you're not likely to convince us to be something else. INTJs more than any other type believe in themselves and trust their own judgment.

As longtime list member Amanda Doerr wrote, "Since when have we not beaten a topic into subatomic particles and beyond?" This is our way.

To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the INTJ-Open Archives.

Be warned. If the following farewell message from a previous list member makes the list sound scary to you, you might want to look elsewhere.

On the other hand, if people who act like this make you roll your eyes, you may be one of us. Welcome aboard!

"Well, I've been here over a month, going on 2 actually, and I've been posting responses to things...rarely, if ever, does anyone answer. I figure I am getting the 'aiden treatment' and hence, I am leaving the list. I was hoping to make some new friends, but I found many of you (notice, I say 'many of you' not 'all of you', so to those who did treat me like I was a person, hey, I am sorry but I can't handle this shitpot) to be such assholes that I'd rather find more mature friends, and with that said...I'm off the list. I've never met such a selfish, manipulative, argumentative, controlling, angry, unhappy bunch of assholes in my entire life. I've watched you chew up newbies left and right and then when you're done, having subdued the poor newcommer who has no CLUE why you are attacking, you then turn on each other. I've seen maybe ONE normal post of interest...and the rest have been horrible attacks on humankind with very biased opinions. No matter what you say, you ! will always be unhappy. People like you never find the joy in things...instead you guys spend all day trying to figure out how to argue over everything said by others, how to become a vulture and how to pick apart others' responses on the list. Woohoo. Big fun for you...but I cannot derive joy out of seeing others hurt and unhappy. I will never derive joy out of hurting others without provocation, such as you make hobby of on this list. I hope you all have a good life...what sad, pittiful lives you do lead...however, I want no part of it. With that said...goodbye."

Using INTJ-Open
To post a message to all the list members, send email to intj-open@epistolary.org.

You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below. You have a choice between subscribing in regular or digest form.

Regular form means every time someone posts to the list, you get a copy of that post. You could get many messages every day, but each one should be fairly short. If you have a threading mail reader with filtering, like Agent, you can easily sort your list messages into one folder and read them in logical order.

When you want to reply to a regular list message, simply hit "reply" and your response will go to the list. Don't use "reply to all" because that will send one copy to the list and a copy to the sender. The sender could then think you were sending a message offlist and send you a reply offlist, then realize they could and may have preferred to send a message on the list.

Digest form means you get a group of messages all at once, typically ten or so. When you reply to a message, you should cut out all but the point in the message you're replying to, so you don't fill up an entire digest with your "reply to the digest"!

An advantage to the digest form is that you won't have a lot of separate messages to manage, just one. There are a few disadvantages to the digest version:

  • You will have more difficulty in following discussions because all the discussion threads are mixed together.
  • Sometimes people do not cut out irrelevant text from their replies, meaning you can end up with a lot of the same text repeated over and over as the thread goes on.
  • You won't really have much less space taken up in your mailbox, they'll just all be in fewer posts. It's easier to manage but your mailbox can fill up just as quickly, so be aware of that.
