Lazarous

There's a data recovery tool called Lazarus, written by Wietse Venema (of Postfix fame) and Dan Farmer (of SATAN fame). It sucks up everything in the "empty" space on a drive, and then organises it according to data type. You can browse the recovered data using a standard Web browser.

It's part of The Coroner's Toolkit (which has some other cool utilities, too).
