April 14, 2008 Spent the evening out with Declan and some other journalist type folk in Columbia Heights in DC. Headed down immediately after the end of the workday to meet up at a bar for trivia night. I was totally outclassed on anything but the first set of questions (childhood television shows) and would have pulled a big fat zero on the round where we were asked to identify the title of ten classic books from their first line.
No real thanks to me, our team ended up with a tie for third place which would have taken $20 off of our table's bar tab. To choose the third place winner, a representative of our table was matched up against another team in a dance contest. Right at the end of the 60 second song the other team's dancer pulled a phenominal breakdance style handstand flip and secured their victory.
Today's worthless travel summary is from Parkville to Hunt Valley to Greenbelt (via Mount Vernon) and back to Parkville:
39.0 mpg
42 mph avg
81 mph max
2.5 hrs
3850 rpm max
107 miles
206 fwt max
2.7 gal
For all my talk about sustainability and conservation, 3 gallons of gas per day for three days in a row ain't it.
I'm going down to DC so often these days that it was almost an afterthought that I added $20 to my SmarTrip card last night. It's nice to be able to just walk straight onto the platform without hitting the farecard machines to add some cash value to my card first.
Needed something to read while I was waiting for or on the train, and discovered that about a week ago I had downloaded a PDF copy of Steampunk Magazine to my SD card for later reading. I also managed to edit and revise a few back-dated blog entries that I've been promising to post up.
