March 9, 2008 Today was the Beef and Bingo event at the Harford Park Community Association building. It's been a very long time since I played bingo, especially for prizes, and never in a community hall like this. It's amazingly fun. I got a big card package with 6 bingo squares for each game and as they called the numbers I was racing to keep up.
I got seated at a table with my neighbors from the other end of the street who have been at a few of the association meetings in the last few months. They both brought their mothers to play along. Although I was the unrelated single guy at the table, we all had a great time egging each other on and chatting about our various hobbies during the breaks.
Our table wound up winning three of the fourteen games, and my neighbors walked away with a Ravens apparel gift basket, and a jewelery basket. I won a special game so I didn't get to pick my prize, which was a basket teeming with gift wrapping supplies like bows, ribbons, wrapping paper, jewelery boxes, and a gift certificate to the Hallmark store on the corner. At least three people jokingly tried to sneak off with my prize.
After that I threw my target shooting bag into the trunk and headed up to the range where I shot two fantastic groupings at the start and end of my practice, and 3 respectable targets. Every time I head out there it seems like I get a little more zen and manage to control my breathing and muscles to a higher degree. It's quite a soothing exercise in spite of the whole exploding gunpowder aspect.
