D-STAR in Baltimore

Going over holiday wishlists and I noticed all the D-STAR ads in the latest edition of the Ham Radio Outlet catalog.

I think I got bit by the digital bug and I am now lusting over a Icom ID-800H D-STAR dual bander with digital capability even though it is 3x more than a regular mobile dual-bander.

Is there anyone in the Baltimore, MD area who is using or thinking of upgrading to digital equipment that I would be able to talk to, or am I going to pay for bleeding edge gear just to talk to the empty air or use it only in FM mode for the next 2 years?

    Rob,

I don't have D-STAR, but I do operate PSK31, a great digital mode. I have made more contacts on PSK31 than the other modes I've tried. I have worked all continents (unconfirmed via QSL). All you probably need is a RigBlaster and Digipan.
