June 15, 2006 This morning on West Northern Parkway I saw the aftermath of an accident involving a dump truck, MTA bus and two light poles. The dump truck was jammed between the guardrail and the side of the bus, and a gaggle of cops, BGE employees, and MTA employees were standing around trying to figure out what to do about it. My guess is the truck either lost its brakes or didn't see the bus stopped in time.
If you ever have dreams of the glorious life of a computer programmer, let me disabuse you of that notion. The last three working days have been spent searching for an error that was making every value in the last two columns of my report double. That error turned out to be a well-hidden period. One single character that took 36 hours of problem splitting, debugging and general agitation to locate and remove.
It feels good to have the problem solved, but it really put a damper on my week.
In local politics, my friend Todd Schuler is ramping up for his primary run in less than 100 days (September 12, 2006, don't miss it!) and I really think he deserves the support of everybody in Maryland District 8. Check out his website which occasionally shows up in the sidebar and watch this space for news about him and his campaign.
