Happy New Year, everybody!

Today's activity from KC2AEI:

Contact #7. 14059 1304 VE1GA LEE IN HALIFAX SENT 569 RX 579. Halifax, NS.

Contact #8. 14059 1330 W6LFB DENTON TX 50 WATTS TO G5RV SENT 569 GOT 549. Denton, TX.

The new antenna is totally kicking ass, but its placement appears to be messing with the DSL signal because of it's proximity to the telephone line. The fates have decided to make me choose (for now) between ham radio and the Internet.

On certain frequencies the radio also appears to overload the Powerbook's power brick, even when connected across the room. I can't tell whether it's a general RF overload issue or a grounding issue. My bets and hopes are on grounding.

Suzy also says the televisions are flickering. I have no idea whether this is the satellite signal or (again) RF overload. A new ground rod this week should answer both of these questions.

I wonder how hard it would be to have a few of those lines rerouted from the backyard. Probably impossible given Comcast's response to the limb getting ready to pull down the block's cable connection. Nobody will give me a straight answer about who is responsible, so I honestly don't care anymore.
