September 30, 2005 At the close of business on October 14, 2005, I will no longer be the Web Programmer at KCI Technologies, Inc.
Since it would have been totally indiscreet to talk about my search while it was going on, and it was basically the big time-consuming thing going on in my life over the last few weeks, I just said nothing at all.
Now some of you were privy to this through other channels, some aren't. Basically around the second of this month, it was made obvious to me that it was time to move on from KCI. After five years, a lot of stuff just wasn't meshing anymore in terms of corporate culture and my needs, and I felt like I had gone as far as I was going to go with the company without my personal development being stifled.
That day, I pulled my resume out of the 2000 archive and threw it into a versioning system to flesh out all the new things I had done since the last update. A lot of inquiries, informal beer meetings, applications, portfolio updates, telephone interviews, in-person interviews, and contract negotiations later, I have a new job.
On October 17, 2005 I will begin my new job as Senior Application Developer for Vision Multimedia Technologies, LLC in Baltimore, MD.
Thanks to everyone who helped me along this process, including moral support, resume and portfolio proofreading, job leads, and everything else I can't even remember. And especially thanks to Ben whose reference went a long way to landing this new position in the office with him.
