I'm running a Tor server from the house now. Am I even allowed to say something like that? "The first rule of Tor Club is..."

It would take anyone with an intermediate level of hacking skill to find out what node I am. Just for fun, I'll buy a beer (or drink of choice) for the first reader to e-mail me with my node name. But the cool thing is, it shouldn't matter.

I'm using it to amuse myself by watching Google come up in various languages based on the country I exit on. With almost a full pipe worth of traffic going in and out on a regular basis, it should be moderately difficult to tell what traffic is mine or what isn't.

Right now I'm running as an interim node, which means that nothing exits my computer. I'm just a hop in the path where traffic hits mine, and then speeds off in a different direction without me keeping any record of where it came from or where it's going. I may open up a few "safe" ports like POP3 and IMAP in a week or two just to see what happens.

I've also restarted the balt-wl mailing list, hoping to get a bunch of interested people together to mount reflashed POE Linksys WRT54G routers up on their rooftops and partipate in a Baltimore-area (Tor-enabled?) wireless mesh network. I don't know how well it will work, but it should be something to keep me out of trouble while it's hot and the roof climbing is good.

As of last night, the living room is clean, office is about 50% uncluttered. Dining room is suffering as a staging area, and the kitchen was usable enough for me to make myself some couscous and vegetables (although not much more). Car is vacuumed and empty. Hoping for another productive evening tonight.
