I'm getting increasingly frustrated by the amount of digital restrictions management crap that my Apple hardware is playing on me. I'd rather spending my time making something work better in Linux than dropping to the command line to get around some restriction in copying my files from one device to another.

I'm totally into podcasts lately, but in order to listen to them on my iPod Shuffle I have to have them loaded into the Library of iTunes, which has its own screwed up way of managing audio files, and with a library of 7,600 files, it borders on the least efficient way possible.

I've never liked iTunes, and replaced it with Audion on my system as soon as I could after buying the Mac and I use MPlayer OS X for most other media files. Now that I bought the Shuffle, I'm feeling cooped up by the worst sort of lock in.

My next laptop will be a souped up Debian box.
