Researching digital thermostats

Another item to cross off the home repair list: researching digital thermostats.

It's frustrating to search Google for Honeywell or Rite Temp thermostats. First of all, I thought it was RiteTemp, which is one of the many ways that the company writes its name on the web site. Then I realized that most manufacturers write it as "Rite-Temp." Up until that point I had done searches for "ritetemp", "8082c", "7400d", "8085" and got nothing but sites like finditemshere.com (among many others) that immediate redirect me through a storm of:

www.qksrv.net
www.apmebf.com
adfarm.mediaplex.com

and finally to ebay.com where I am presented with a page of thermostats I can bid on. I reported each and every site I found, plus the ad owners, so hopefully Google can deservedly ding their ratings down. Finally after getting the names right, I found an epinions article about the Honeywell CT3500A that bashed the Honeywell line for not having an easily accessible "swing" setting that keeps the heater or A/C unit from turning on and off multiple times in the span of a few minutes, and highly recommended the Rite Temp units.

Since they were also on my list from the trip to Home Depot, I checked out the 8082C and 8085C on the ritetemp.info web site and was duly impressed. Searching back on Google for the Rite Temp 8085C with the correct name of the company brought me to a Home Depot page with an affordable price of $79.00. Sold.

I'll let you know how it works, especially since no one else on the Internet seems able to.
