There's 32 minutes left on the battery, and 25 minutes until Red Emma's closes, so here goes the daily entry.

I'm happy to report that I am seriously getting things done over the last week and a half. The weird thing is that I couldn't really tell you what I've done because so much of my mental energy conservation comes from not really thinking about the loops that I've closed, only that I have all my open loops accounted for and everything else is either documented (if it's important), or simply done.

My brain is so content to realize that so many things are simply done.

Work has been a solid run of one task after another being put into the tracking system and either quickly solved or incrementally worked towards its conclusion. I have 43 folders and about 135 open work orders that I know I'll revisit on a regular basis starting every day with the one I last accessed the longest time ago and ending with the ones in blue (due today) before they go red (overdue) and incrementing the due date as necessary to revisit.

Household stuff has really been a blast. If I write "Buy Doorbell" in my list, as I'm going back from getting my hair cut during my lunch break ("Haircut"), I'm going to have looked at that item in my "Errands" list on the way out of the barbershop door. Then I think to myself that Ace Hardware is on the way between the shop and my office and I have $4 in cash in my pocket--which is probably what a doorbell costs.

This actually happened yesterday, just like that. This evening I came home after picking Suzy up from the bus stop and grabbing my prescription from the doctor's office ("Pick up scrip") and as I surveyed the "Home" list on my way out the door, I saw "Install Doorbell," next to "Return blinds" and "Measure windows" and took the 3 minutes with my Leatherman Wave to install it. This is mostly incredible because that doorbell has been broken for about a year. I miss it about as much as I miss hearing the telephone ring, but the important point is that it got done! This is an incredible change for me.

The other cool thing is that I'm scheduling meetings with various folks around the company during my peak time (10:00-11:00) to go over various files in their section of the company web page and intranet site, and they're working great. Not only am I keeping all the meetings under 60 minutes (although today's was close), they're fast paced, usually result in about 20 new distinct items for my to-do list and the department contact walks away happy that their needs are being attended to.

Well, it's time to "Pick up allergy meds," then "Install blinds," and "Clean coffee maker." It's gonna be a busy day tomorrow.
