I highly recommend T-Mobile, even though I've been told their service isn't so great up in New York City. I think they have a location tester on their website that will tell you signal strengths and tower proximity. Unlimited GPRS is $20/mo. I have two phones linked with a 400 minute family plan and unlimited GPRS on both (one for me, one for my girlfriend) and 300 SMS messages for $94/mo. Before that I was paying $54 for myself on a 300 minute package with unlimited GPRS. I use about 130 MB/mo on the road and never had a bill higher than the base rate.
