January 22, 2005 With my credit card interest rate creeping up at 13.24% on a several thousand dollar balance, I gave MBNA one more chance today to decrease my APR. They balked and said that 11.99% fixed was their best offer. Just a few months ago they offered me 4.7% fixed until September on my $1700 balance transfer, and that offer is still up on the web site. I'll be closing the card account on Tuesday. I feel it is my responsibility to send the message to the credit card companies not to screw with the fiscally responsible.
I know that prime plus 6.74% isn't all that bad for unsecured credit, but since I can turn it into secured debt and close my last credit card out, I'm making that choice.
End of the snowstorm left about 8 inches on the ground here. Got most of my sidewalk shoveled off. Paul from across the street volunteered to do the whole block with his snowblower, an offer which I gladly accepted.
