January 5, 2005 Safari Bookshelf is a pretty amazing product. I'm hoping that some of the other folks in my department have a chance to really evaluate it before our 30 days expire. So far I've only got three books on my shelf, but I don't have to think to myself "gee, I wish I could go out to the store and order this" I just click it and read through to what I need.
Today's major project was content updates on our Intranet. Mostly simple stuff but it gives me a chance to pace around the site a little and see what needs to be updated in the next few weeks. Hopefully tomorrow will be some interesting Apache configuration, followed by an equally interesting (and overdue) Sendmail configuration that will make KCI's e-mail system considerably more spam-resistant.
Had lunch at Parsa Kabob for more than I should really be spending on meals, but it filled me up well enough that I was satisfied with a small cheap dinner, so it all evens out.
Speaking of finances, I accidentally left a recurring bill pay entry for my credit card for an amount a little under 3 times what I was intending to pay this month, but luckily it doesn't put January's budget in the red. Since I'm paying a lot more for them to spot me the money than I could make in savings interest, so I'm happy to see the balance go down faster than I anticipated.
My outstanding credit and my car loan are now within a few hundred dollars of each other, and with any luck I will be paying them both off at similar rate this year to get both down to zero by the second or third month of 2006.
I know I should be cleaning or scanning or something but my days at work have left me pretty burnt at the end of the day this week. Hopefully I will adjust because I really dig the new energy I have between 8 and 5. I guess I can handle being like everyone else and getting all my chores done on the weekends.
