Honda Civic 2001 EX at 160,000 miles Rich Krentz from Tracy, CA wrote in to tell me a little about his 2001 Honda Civic EX Sedan. Reposted here with his permission.
Well, here it is 160,000 miles later on my EX 4 door and not a thing has gone wrong with my Civic. I'm still getting 40mpg on the original plugs (platinum) and going strong.
I know several people who are in the same boat. We all commute in excess of 160 miles per day and in California that's not hard to do around here.
I found that my long commute allows the engine to reach operating temperature quickly and keeping the engine at constant 3000 rpm makes everything work as it should. Oil changes come at 5000 mile intervals along with tire rotations and good Honda service. My last set of tires were changed at 80,000 and they still had decent tread. My only complaint has been road noise.
My plan is to keep the Honda till it reached 300,000miles. At that time I may decide to buy another one.
I also bought a 2002 Honda Accord EX V6 for my wife. That car has only 20,000 miles on it because she won't let me drive it that much. I hope it lasts as long as the Civic.
Honda has done a great job with this vehicle and if they continue this trend this winner will be long endeared by it's owners.
Thanks
