Thanksgiving weekend recap

I've been in New Jersey now for four days. I'll be packed up and on my way back down I-95 soon.

We showed up here on Wednesday night to welcome Cindy back for a short while from Costa Rica. A couple of people were over and Suzy and I milled around and tried our best to be social.

On Thursday we went to church followed by a Thanksgiving meal out at Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse. We came back to the house and showed everyone how Soul Calibur 2 was played, then watched some movies.

Cindy bought a new iBook G4 earlier this week (with a 14 inch display) to have with her at the house and to use for graduate school later on. Suzy and I had fun teaching her stuff and showing her all the great software available for Mac OS X.

On Friday we got up late and went to Sherban's for breakfast, where I got way too much food to eat and a few too many cups of coffee. I logged onto the VPN and we sat around watching bad television and me working on projects for about 9 hours, knocking out a few deliverables that had been on my list for a few weeks and were coming due soon. A little before midnight I fired a message off to the right people.

That evening Suzy and I went up to the Subway in the Oak Park Commons Shopping Center. I had my usual, a foot-long Subway Club with everything, and she tried the new thai chicken sub with swiss cheese. The girl who served us was a little confused and stressed out, and wound up not wrapping the sandwich tight enough so that when she got home it was more of a soup of chicken and undistinguishable cheese pieces. We pushed most of it back into the sandwich with a knife but by then a big chunk had become an inedible mess. She was totally ticket and considered calling but I wasn't about to drive back to the store.

It turns out there was a Quiznos Sub only a few miles away in North Plainfield. Next we'll go the extra distance for them.

We watched four episodes of Law and Order before Girl, Interrupted came on TBS and took up the rest of the evening. Lately it seems like I've been surrounded by stories of people with Borderline Personality Disorder. I know its not a new thing, but its attained some sort of media resurgence, at least in the things I read.

Saw Charlie N2LHD, Sid KD2AG and a few others at Cafe Everest and had a nice breakfast with them. Afterwards me, Suzy and my parents went out to the Drake House Museum and got the full tour from the current live-in curator. I would have pictures of the place except the sign says pictures weren't allowed and I didn't feel like asking for an exception.

Dad got fascinated by an annotated old english bible on the table of the dining room and we spent a lot of time staring at the old maps of the neighborhood before heading home. After we came back in the door we had dinner followed by a brief nap and here I am.

Anyway, it's time to pack up. See you back in Baltimore.
