child pornography

The government's crack-down on child pornography is turning into a witch-hunt on all sorts of fetishists and lonely people. This article from the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals talks about how federal agents online entrapped a man into preying on children by preying on his need for understanding companionship.

Lauren Weinstein calls online kid porn a tricky problem in his recent Wired News column, citing the recent arrests of Pete Townshend and Paul Reubens.

On March 5, 2003, U.S. District Judge Denny Chin in New York and U.S. District Judge Catherine Perry in St. Louis both threw out evidence against defendants in child pornography cases, saying that the FBI misled judges through falsehoods and misrepresentations to obtain search warrants.

Chin wrote in his decision that "there is no lower standard when the crimes are repugnant and the suspects frustratingly difficult to detect."

Think you're not affected? Breast feeding is now illegal to photograph (ostensibly of a sexual nature), as is any attempt at artistic expression with male genetelia.
