Went up to the break-room and turned CSPAN2 on the satellite TV where the victory speech from twelve years ago was playing with a jubilant and conciliatory Bill Clinton on stage with Al Gore and their families talking about the hard work they would be doing over the next eight years. I cleared my mind and tried to pretend I was watching it for the first time and we were about to enter eight years of prosperity and growth. My co-workers and I stood in awed silence.

Another co-worker walked into the room, and I pointed to the screen and told him, "He won!"

"My God," he replied, "the nightmare is finally over!"
