December 24, 2001 East Coast participation was at an astounding 17% at the Winter Solstice Burn! Thanks to Buddy K for helping me represent out there, and making sure I wasn't the only one in the park with a silly East Coast accent.
If you missed this, you suck. Not only that, once you see the pictures, you'll realize how much fun you missed and wished you got a ticket out there too.
BobbyG puts on a bad-ass show and left me with my jaw on the ground and a sore shutter finger. He also smokes a mean turkey on the BBQ.
Buddy K cooks up an awesome mushroom... well, everything... :-) He's also great conversation around a scorching campfire while the 10 degree winds are whipping down the beach into the site.
Suzanne is an all-around perfect hostess, tour guide and amazing fire spinner. Don't believe me? I've got photo proof!
Everybody else out there who's not on the list already heard me go on about how cool they were all this weekend... Wisconsin is the place to be in late December. Trust me! ;-)
Okay, but you know I'd never get away without my usual glut of pictures, this time divided into handy themes so you can go directly to what piques your interest.
Milwaukee City Tour
Suz takes me on a downtown tour of Milwaukee, from her office down to
the Milwaukee Art Museum
Miller Brewing Company
Tour and tasting at the Miller Brewing facility in Milwaukee. "Oh my
God, they're bringing us more free beer!"
Lake Michigan Beach
Just wasting bandwidth on a Lake Michigan beach in Milwaukee.
Wisconsin Solstice Jam
BobbyG, Jack Chocolate, Mike and Suz show off their skills.
Burning (Snow) Man
I have to explain this one? A must see.
Sunrise Over Lake Michigan
What better way to experience the longest night of the year than to
stay awake through it and take pictures of the sun coming up the next
day. The sun never showed and it was about six million degrees below
zero before accounting for wind chill, so that's all you get. :-)
Point Beach in the Morning
It really is freezing out there. It's not a photo trick.
I think the Wisconsin air got to me or something. I'm not normally
that cold and smiling at the same instant.
Madison City Tour
The Madison Capital building in the snow.
