Pull over for flashing lights

It really makes me sick to see the lack of respect for cops and firefighters in traffic these days.

This evening shortly after work was over I watched a marked police car, an ambulance, a ladder truck and an unmarked police car all race down York Road between Shawan Road and McCormick Road obviously on their way to the scene of an accident. There were at least ten cars in my field of view in the northbound lane rolling very slowly down the hill and not a single one of them pulled over to the abundant shoulder or stopped their forward movement for any of the emergency vehicles.

I don't encounter a lot of cops or firefighters running emergency calls during my occasional city miles, but when I do I always make sure to pull completely to the side of the road and come to a complete stop for them to pass safely. I've been nearly sideswiped or rear-ended is probably one out of every eight times I do this because even though it's the law, nobody expects or respects it anymore.
