Re: Off-campus Parking
In recent weeks, we have received a growing number of complaints from our neighbors in Arbutus regarding UMBC students and employees who park on residential streets. Losing access to any of the extremely limited parking space available to residents living in the communities surrounding the UMBC campus is an inconvenience which impacts the entire neighborhood’s quality of life. In addition, there are elderly residents in the community who depend on “Meals on Wheels” volunteers and visiting medical attendants who need access to parking spaces in order to provide these important services.
Please be aware that if your car remains on a street for an extended period of time, blocks a driveway, is parked too close to a driveway or a fire hydrant (less than five feet), residents may contact Baltimore County Police regarding the removal or ticketing of your vehicle.
It is extremely important that we respect our neighbors in the communities surrounding UMBC—many students and employees of the university are simply “visitors” to the area—for area residents this is their home!
We encourage students and employees to use the parking and transit options available through the campus. If you need a campus parking permit, please contact Parking Services at ext. 5-2551. For information on UMBC Transit shuttle services, visit http://www.umbc.edu/transit/ or call ext. 5-3974.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact me at ext. 5-3737.
Thank you.
