July 27, 2002 21:49: Argh! There are lots of things I like about Charles Village, but the break-ins are not one of them. A few minutes ago the house alarm at 2606 North Calvert Street went off and I'm going completely insane.
I heard the alarm a few minutes ago, went out on the back porch and saw a black guy with a medium build, white tee shirt and black shorts run down the alley and then slow and turn around the south side of Margaret Brent Elementary. He disappeared into the shadows and I called 911 as soon as I went out front and saw the blue strobe outside the house flashing.
The only way I can calm myself down is to set my watch for 30 minute increments and do a quick look from the porch with my maglite. Not fun. The police showed up a few minutes ago, but I doubt they found anything interesting.
12:22: On the spur of the moment, I'm now supporting the Blogathon effort for EFF today. Good luck to all the bloggers. Of course, my sponsorship gets a link to my site in a post about the biggest little kid poop she just witnessed. I love the Internet.
To those of you visiting for the first time because of her links to me, please pardon the chaos here. I'm trying to feed a very hungry and empty database full of information, and every time I post a new item (which may make perfect sense in the interrelated Epistolary interface) it shows up on the weblog as a new entry. Things may seem strange now as I try to input all aspects of my life into the structure.
9:37: So much for my dedication to this hiking class. I already missed my first planned hike and I'm going to miss the other one on Sunday because of the Playa del Fuego Planning Meeting. Today was in Loch Raven, and I told a bunch of people I was going, so I feel really bad about it. I turned off my buzzer the last time Suz was here and managed to sleep through about an hour of NPR before I finally woke up with the sun an hour and a half later and realized it was too late to drive to Loch Raven Senior High.
