NEW YORK - Media and home decor retailer Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. reported improved second-quarter results Wednesday that slightly exceeded Wall Street expectations, but warned that it doesn't expect to meet third-quarter or full-year estimates due to the stock scandal involving its namesake CEO.

DALLAS - Halliburton Co. said Wednesday that it lost $498 million in the second quarter, weighed down by charges against earnings for asbestos-related claims and a troubled project in Brazil.

Sacramento -- Oracle Corp. and the Davis administration reached an agreement Tuesday to cancel a $95 million contract for database software, hoping to end an embarrassing scandal for the governor and the Redwood Shores company.
