True Vine Record Shop

New record store & performance space open in Hampden. Small! Friendly! Very very cool. Don't go there expecting to pick something specific up. Go in there and ask what's good. Have an open mind. The guys running the place are great and they're having a lot of really excellent events. Prepare to have your mind opened, bring tools if necessary. They sell used vinyl and CDs as well as new CDs, and they have a little painting gallery operation going in there too.

Listening to "Lost Homelands: The Smyrnaic Song in Greece 1928-35" right now, la!

They're open every day except Tuesday till 6 on sunday and monday and till 8 weds-sat. It's on the 1100 W block of 36th street, right across from Atomic Books and next to Golden West.

Come on down, it's only the best of our old stock, and creamy new goodness as well. From Nurse with Wound to Needlegun to Fela Kuti...it's not that far to travel. Hampden, the nayborhud that reeds.
