Wow!

Did you ever have one of those moments where you're fast asleep at four in the morning when suddenly your telephone begins to ring. After the 12th ring, you groggily stuble to the table next to your bed and pick it up. A familiar voice says "Can you please open the door? I forgot my key." The request seems reasonable, and the voice is familiar, but somehow it doesn't add up. After all, the only person with a key is your wonderful girlfriend who is nine hundred miles away right now.

Of course not. But I did.

I say something profound like, "You're downstairs?" To which she replies, "Yeah, and I'm really tired. Can you please let me in so I can come to bed?"

Later I found out that Justin had needed a ride back from SynchroniCity because he missed his flight and, well, Suz was more than happy to oblige anyone who needed to get to Baltimore.

Unfortunately, having your favorite person in the whole world come visit you doesn't actually let you skip out on usual responsibilites like work or your carpool. Around 7:20, Sara finally rousted me out and downstairs. As we were about to leave, she asked me if I had moved anything around in her office. I replied that of course I hadn't, but something had been moved. It turns out that someone had entered the house at around 0:30 that morning, stolen Sara's purse (with wallet and keys), rifled through Dale's wallet and stolen his laptop computer. He didn't realize that the laptop was gone until around 14:00 that day, and filed all his police reports.

Suz was a little nervous to be around the house, but was so tired after the long drive that she really didn't have a lot of chance to think about it.

Janet asked if we wanted to do anything for dinner and we invited her over to the house for Thairish. Driving down Saint Paul Street in the pouring thunderstorm was interesting, but we made it back with everyone's order safely and had a nice dinner together. Then we all went to Sonar in the evening for beers, with Dale driving. I still took it easy anyway and just had a Black and Tan and a Guiness (while keeping Suz well watered, of course) before we headed back home.

Today both Suz and I started getting hits from a private forum on DSL Reports called meatlocker. I sent a message to the moderator who told me I couldn't join, but on July 10, 2002 explained what the post was about.
