On the way to the Giant I kept my eyes to the ground looking for cicada chimneys. I didn't see anything today although its pretty likely that all the soil in this business park was disturbed within the last 17 years. I did see a ton of anthills, which probably means that they're running wild in my house right now.

Also ran into one of my fellow employees from the finance department on the walk. At the last minute he looks up and says, "Its nicwhmehmhuma." At least, that's what I heard through the doppler shift. So I turn as he whizzes by and say, "What?" He's already ten power-steps away from me and pretends to be out of hearing range. I'm always amused that in a building of engineers, the IT department is still more reclusive than almost everybody else, but the money-type people always manage to find the most fascinating specks on the tips of their shoes to examine.

It really drove home when we scheduled consulting appointments with our 401(k) plan managers here in the office. I was waiting in the office when the two guys arrived and I was struck by how they were nervous doing what was essentially their own job. I know it wasn't the first time they've given these short advice seminars, and it was my first. I was totally out of my element and felt about ten times more confident than either of them.

Back in my office, I mentioned it to Jean and she said, "Duh, they're accountants. If they liked working with people, they'd be in sales."
