Bridge to Excellence in Public Schools Act

The full name for what is known in Maryland as Thornton, from the commission which specified the Maryland constitutionally required changes to the education system.

This legislation was passed in 2002, and according to the ACLU of Maryland, would provide Maryland Public Schools with an additional $1.3 billion dollars annually once fully funded in fiscal year 2008.

March 5, 2004 - House Bill 345 and Senate Bill 245 passed into law today minus the language that would have provided the General Assembly an opportunity to reduce Thornton funding by half.

Thank you to Katherine Klausmeier and Eric Bromwell for voting in favor of their respective bills. You can find out how your elected officials voted.
