Tribal Belly Dance is a fusion of folk dances from the Middle East, India,
North Africa and Spain, that differs from other forms of Belly Dance in
many ways. The most fundamental of these differences is that Tribal Style
is danced as a group for the purpose of fostering community, connection,
joy and sisterhood, unlike solo dances which are performed purely as
entertainment. The costuming and movements of our dance convey a holistic
image of women in a strong, organic, beautiful light.
As a structured yet improvised dance, dancers learn a series of moves
which can then be lead by one dancer and followed by others until the
leader switches and another dancer assumes the role.
