Know how they dole out the serving size of cream cheese at the Dunkin Donuts near my house?

With an ice cream scoop.

That's my kind of place.

--

You know, I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but its weird crap like this that makes me pause every once in a while. So Johns Hopkins University, refuge of academic research, has to recant a study which was key in the passage of the Rave Act because the chemical supplier switched methamphetamines for MDMA? Meth is well known for the resulting symptoms in the study, and also explains why 2 out of every 10 rave participants isn't dropping dead every night.

The only mistake I can see being more suspect would have been to simply exchange them for pure cyanide solution.

I love the indignant tone in Kathleen's voice when she read this aloud.

I do believe that this article about smallpox may have changed my outlook on life for a long time.

The chill feeling I have now must be similar to the one that our elected representatives get when the intelligence agencies break out their top secret "fight terrorism" briefings with them on Capitol Hill.

--

Read another article about folklorist Mormons which mentioned a story about a missionary (not) drinking poison when offered by the leader of a group. Eerily similar to a story I once heard in my own church once, as a "true story" of one of our own.

Go figure.

By the way, did I mention that Kathleen is back? She was stranded in Chicago when a man got really sick on her flight back, then managed to miss the rescheduled flight out the next day and wound up arriving at BWI around 18:00. Luckily that meant that Karl could attend the Playa del Fuego planning meeting today and throw his hat into the ring for a few volunteer positions.

And a few of you may have realized this by now, but I'm massively behind on my e-mail, to the tune of about 1,715 messages, with new ones coming in as fast as I can clear out the last batch. If you haven't heard back from me in a few days, please write again in fewer words as I am, as always, sorting by ascending size.

Here's a photographic representation of novelty theory, as Terrence McKenna would have discussed it.

--

I just found out that Anna was robbed for her wallet and car keys last night. What an awful thing to happen to a person.
