syrian rue

Useful information from BobbyG:

yes indeed Syrian rue does potentiate other psychoactives in that the enzyme, monoamine oxidase, which deaminates amines, is inhibited for a while under its spell. for some reason tryptamines are especially affected.

but who wants all that puking? right.

here's a simple solution: grind the seed to a fine powder in your coffee mill, then wash the mill out. soak the seed for up to 24 hours in a few ounces of very high proof alcoholic beverage like 151 rum or some such. filter thru some of that fiberglass auto-body repair material (just a quirk of mine) then evaporate that fluid in a poly-something plastic container that is white or clear (to see the evaporate better). don't throw out the seed mash, but re-soak in the same alcoholic fluid and again evaporate. a double-soak gets more actives out.

before fluid is evaporated, hold it under a black light. is it bright yellow glowing? good, you've got much of the harmine & harmaline out. your fingertips probably glow bright yellow too after all this putzing.

after all is dried out, scrape your Rubbermaid or Tupperware evaporator clean, and all the powder into caplets from some herbal supplement that you've emptied out. 2 caplets full of the evaporated powder will be a more than adequate dose.

i don't drink alcohol or do cheese, red wine, other fermented foods before, or after, the rue. the standard warnings about MAOIs apply (do web search first). caution!

actually i find the rue just quells my appetite for alcohol for up to a day after consuming. sometimes it quells my appetite for food as well. you become a low-maintenance consumer with this stuff for a short while.
