Bryan Simmons

Back in September 2002, he asked a question about Eterm in a post to the UMBCLINUX mailing list. The custom on the list is to research a question on your own first, then explain what you've done and what's still confusing you when you ask for help.

List members responded by pointing him to the resources on the Internet to get his answer (here), and he proceeded to demand that people do the work for him, because it was easier that way (here, here). Others disagreed (here, here).

When he got yelled at for that and for not having any respect for long-time list contributors and custom (here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here), he argued (here) and called names (here, here).

Finally he sent a message saying that he'd just been manipulating everyone to "test the character" of the group and everybody was still an asshole.

Now he's computer director and Chief Engineer of the campus radio station under Jeff Cather.

Apparently unrepentant, he wrote on June 6, 2003 to the Baltolug mailing list with the following introduction:

"I was a part of the UMBC LUG last year. I found them to be largely a bunch of arrogant a-holes. If you weren't an expert in any particular part of Linux, they'd label you a n00b and ride you 'till it hurt."
