From Jim Lins, Records/Evidence Coordinator of the UMBC Police Department:

On Saturday, September 1, 2001, sometime between 3:30 & 4:30 p.m. the UMBC Chemistry Building received serious water damage. This damage was the result of unknown person(s) breaking off four water spigots in a lab on the 4th floor. The act appears to be intentional, and the UMBC Police are looking for a witness who may have seen anyone in the vicinity of the Chemistry Building that may have been responsible of this malicious act. The person(s) responsible may have been seen wearing wet clothing or otherwise appeared to have been out in a rainstorm. This has destroyed at least one piece of research instrumentation, shut down the lab and prevents students from having access to this valuable university resource. Anyone with information should contact the UMBC Police Department at 410-455-3133 or email to police@umbc.edu.
