pedagogue A while back I read an article on the web or Usenet about some office peon who suggested in a report that the company take a pedagoguish approach within a certain project. If I remember correctly, he was told by his boss there was significant pressure to convince him to find other employment. When he asked why, he was shown his report, with the word pedagogue circled and the handwriting of a VP which read "We don't want this sort of person in our company."
When he explained that pedagogue had nothing to do with children, he was
quietly advised to not use any words not found on the front page of the
New York Times from them on.
I'm trying to find the cite, since it's been a while and I can't remember the exact details. So far a cursory search engine check hasn't revealed anything. If you know the story I'm talking about, please e-mail me.
