May 21, 2001 From Inside Radio, 5/21/01:
NPR offered to partner with Maryland Public Television to purchase WJHU-FM from Johns Hopkins University but was turned down. NPR offered to contribute $100,000 toward a joint advertising campaign for the national network and local station, would rotate one of its younger reporters through the WHJU-FM news staff, would give WJHU-FM first use of new products and services as well as launch new programs. The university is not offering an explanation why it
turned down NPR's offer.
