Maryland gun laws According to a new bill, all firearms have a shell casing on file with the Maryland State Police. A casing must be supplied to permit sale. No casing, no sale. This is a de facto ban on black powder. Write your Delegates and Senators to oppose this bill.
The Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore, Inc. has a great legislative information page.
For the cowardly liberals, you can take some solace in the City Paper article by Brian Morton.

1) There is no such thing as gun registration in MD. However, there is
de-facto registration for all guns (pistol, assault and rifles and
shotguns) since the application for background check is tied to a specific
gun. Note: a careful review of maryland annotated code shows that you
could probably have a background check done assuming you're going to buy
one gun, then use the same background check to buy a different gun. I
doubt many gun sellers would allow you to do this.
2) It is nearly impossible to get a carry permit in MD. This sucks.
3) Transportation of firearms is covered under federal law and cannot be
interfered with by states. You can pass through jurisdictions which
prohibit firearms all you want to, provided you're en route to someplace
which allows them. Don't take detours, though.
4) You can view Maryland annotated code online freely through lexis nexis.
I don't remember the URL.
