Back around April 9, 1999, Nikia Mapp accused Cincinnati Police Department officer Patrick Knight of forcing her to perform oral sex on him. Knight was charged with six counts of sexual battery. In a bench trial, Knight was convicted of one count of sexual battery, and two counts of bribery for this and related incidents. On January 13, 2003, Mapp's burning body was discovered under a semi trailer on Stark Street in Over-the-Rhine.

According to a Google cache, a Nikia Mapp (DOB September 20, 1972 of 1733 Elm Street 3rd Floor) was recently listed in the Cincinnati Police Department District One Most Wanted Felons list for aggravated burglary. As of January 13, 2003 that name is no longer listed in the document.

Dean pointed out this series of articles to me and I thought it was interesting enough to post up. I wouldn't be so bold as to infer a connection from that, although the sequence of events is an interesting one. A Nikia Mapp memorial web site has been established.
