Myth of a Crochet World Ming-Yi Sung explores a personal mythology of androgyny in her
installation Myth of a Crochet World at the Maryland Art Place from January 7, 2003 to February 1, 2003. The objects in the installation are
meticulously crafted from a mixture of mediums including ceramics,
papier-mâché, and crochet objects. Crochet androgynous figures, monkeys,
and fanciful trees create a stage for humorous discovery in her search
for identity. Mike Giuliano of the Baltimore City Paper calls her work "humorously conceived and brightly colored."
Ming received her MFA in Art Education and BFA from the
Maryland Institute, College of Art.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am - 5 pm There is no admission charge.
Jack Livingston of Baltimore, MD wrote a scathing reply to what he considered to be Mike Giuliano's simplistic take on the exhibit.
