wireless home network
I've got a nice Linksys WAP11. I'd like to buy a LinkSys Router/AP, possibly the Linksys BEFW11S4 router, but it looks like the WAP11 doesn't talk to it. The WAP11 in AP Client mode can only talk to other WAP11 units. Instead of the Linksys BEFR11S4 ($89.95), I'd have to get either a BEFSR41 ($49.95) and WAP11 ($90.09) or Linksys WET11 bridge ($95.91) to connect my networks. Of course if I got a BEFSX41 ($70.27) I could also use it as an IPSec VPN endpoint.
Update December 29, 2002: Went to the MarketPro Show and got a Linksys WET11 for the neighbor to have in his house for the week or two it takes to get the DSL installed. It's a reasonable price and doesn't require the Linksys WAP11 to be in bridge mode. I'll probably use a few of those to make the wireless network around here and to link up my servers in the basement without a 300 foot CAT5 cable. Since the Linksys BEFR11S4 has been performing so poorly with my SSH sessions, I'm going to use Nitrous as my router instead.
