Hunt Valley Mall A while back the Dead Malls site had a feature about the death of Hunt Valley Mall.
In early 2003 a developer decided that Hunt Valley Mall needed a facelift and floated a proposal to turn the existing area into the new Hunt Valley Towne Center.
I walked through the parking lot on the way to the Light Rail last Friday and finally got a look at what's happened since then. The major stores like Wal-Mart and Dick's Sporting Goods are untouched, but the whole area between that used to be filled with smaller stores has been demolished. The face of the building has been torn down reminiscent of the Alfred P. Murrah Building, and most of the crater-marked parking lot is fenced off for the use of the contractors.
If my memory serves, everything should be done by sometime in 2004 and it's rumored to be courting a Wegmans, which will make it a great location for the employees of Verizon and those in the North Park Drive businesses.
