On Wednesday, February 14, 2001, Governor Parris N. Glendening ordered the Maryland State flag be flown at half staff until sunset of interment. This action is in honor of Centreville Patrolman Michael Nickerson and Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Schwenz, who were killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, February 13, 2001.
