Handspring Visor Phone Got an interesting note from Peter Johansson the other day. It turns out the new Handspring Visor Phone uses the old GSM technology. He says "Sprint Spectrum was GSM, but only in the Baltimore/DC area. They did sell this to VoiceStream, which became their hardware base in this area only. It seems that VoiceStream is going arround buying up all existing GSM providers in the country before rolling out their own hardware in other areas." He also points to an article about this particular business strategy. Heather Lunn, the local VoiceStream agent says that they will support the GSM modem in the Handspring if you purchase the $499 modem-without-service version from the Handspring page.
