This is to advise you that Governor Glendening has ordered the Maryland State Flag be flown at half staff effective immediately until sunset of interment on Saturday, November 30, 2002. This action is in honor of Detective Thomas G. Newman, Baltimore City Police Department, who was shot and killed in the early morning of November 23, 2002. The murder of Detective Newman is a line of duty death. This action is taken under the protocol for the Maryland State Flag.
