Winter Solstice Burn in process.

00. Wake up.

00. Alex finally gets up. Breakfast is a great oatmeal combination of walnuts and raisins by Steve.

00. Some sort of irony occured. I forget what. Ham contact with Keith, KB9QJQ mobile in Wausau from the loft. Steve, Leah, Suz and I take a tour of the property with Wade.

00. The hike continues. We see a giant anthill and apples left on a tree on Solstice. Wade seems to recall there being something special about apples like these, but can't remember exactly what. We return.

00. Steve and I do a little shooting with the BB rifle. Wade mocks me about my myriad portable electronic devices. Bobby connects his car to the DJ system and Leah spins some tunes from her with her Powerbook. Wade makes chocolate fondue out of the 2 pounds of ADM chocolate. Relief.

00. Set up a little "rave room" in the community center with the laser light show and DJ gear. Called home to tell my family what to get me for Christmas. Wade suggests that technology only solves the problems it creates. Baltimore County Public Library calls.

00. Chill time. Nap.

00. Chilling. More arrivals. Wade, Steve and Leah decide to jump in the freezing cold lake.

00. Suz decides it might be fun to jump in the lake too. The cold quickly changes her mind. At 16:23 start of the longest night, they all proceed on this moronic quest. Wade leaps in first. Leah jumps in second, and is the only person to go completely underwater. Steve makes the last dip into the pond.

00. Kids are now playing outside. We cut up some venison that Wade has saved up while Bobby G cuts up the turkey he put in this morning. I pour libations of Milwaukee's Best into the fire for the spirit of the deer. Wade is not amused.

00. Wade thinks my portable laser show is stupid until he realizes it's audio sensative, then it becomes interactively cool. We all go back outside for smores and roasted marshmallows by the little bonfire. Suz and Bobby G do some fire spinning.

00. I read some more of the Republic by myself in the upstairs loft while others go off to play in the stone circle.

00. The kids get a little rambunctious and almost have a serious accident. Leah suggests a game of Fluxx. Alex's bedtime comes around and she can't think of a coherent reason to go to sleep (and she is really tired) so all that comes out is, "But... but... but." It's cute. Alex is finally asleep. We realize too late that we've missed the peak at 20:22 during the game.

00. The game of Fluxx continues, and continues to get on everybody's nerves. Wade finally wins while he's trying to lose. Everyone takes about what a bizzare game it is. I clean up everything upstairs. A gay vs. straight discussion of some sort ensues, then back to Fluxx. Wade asks, "What would you rather do? Play a game of Fluxx or stab yourself in forehead?" Then he ponders, "Well, what kind of knife we talking here?"

00. Too many Monty Python references make Suz tell us we watch altogether too much television.

00. Bedtime.

Meanwhile, back in Baltimore, MD . . .

Congrats to Anna Kaplan on her successful move to her new apartment.
