bias Disclaimer:
I am a civil libertarian, and a card-carrying member of the ACLU.
I believe in conservative spending and liberal policy by government: Democrats have no business telling us what to do with our paychecks and Republicans have no business telling us how to run our lives.
I believe in the right to do whatever you want as long as you don't deny anyone else's rights in the process.
I believe in the separation of church and state. Spirituality is an important facet of the daily lives of many people, but organized religion has no place in or around government.
I believe that morality and common sense cannot be legislated. There are laws in place to punish people for hurting other people, and the free market can provide for dealing with offenses like not wearing seatbelts or motorcycle helmets using contracts.
I believe that the possession of firearms and certain types of plants are not and should not be crimes.
I believe that government provides valuable services such as schools, parks, transportation infrastructure and public utilities that cannot be effectively or fairly duplicated by corporations.
I believe that all computer systems are inherently polluted by non-obvious human design flaws and biases, and any automated law enforcement systems should not be tolerated by an intelligent citizenry.
I believe that government exists to protect us from the abuses of corporations, and a government that writes laws to benefit corporations over individuals is violating its agreement with the citizens who support it.
I believe that people should get what they deserve and be responsible for their own actions, and the vast majority of recent societal problems come from an increasing no-fault culture.
I believe that human rights do not begin at a pre-fetal stage. I believe as long biological system is tied directly into the support system of a female, its rights are tied directly to the decisions of that female like any other organ. When it can regulate its own biological functions independently it gains its own rights.
I believe that morality is not tied to a higher power or celestial rewards.
I believe that if stating my opinion that the Justice Department is misguided and, demanding free and transparent government above everything else makes me a terrorist then there is no difference between what our nation claims to be fighting against and what we claim to be fighting for.
