November 19, 2002 Happy birthday to Sandy Reedy, Pat Fisher and Donna Wiggins!
So tonight from midnight to dawn, there'll be a hell of a show in the sky. I'm planning on heading out to Western MD with Steve Killen. You can come along. Check out Global & Local Forecasts for the 2002 Leonid Meteor Shower if you really wanna get
psyched.
5:59: Just finished watching the Leonids from my backyard, and what a cool thing that was. I've never seen so many shooting stars in one place in such a short period of time. I don't get to say that I saw the full show like the folks that are out on the beach right now enjoying the total darkness, but as I stood shivering out behind my house I was consoled by the fact that my warm, happy bed was only 50 feet away at any given moment. That and I was watching the Leonids from my backyard. Hopefully I can say that again the next time they come around.
Today is an education week of some sort, so the school is giving parents and kids breakfast at the school starting at 8:30, and I get to take Alex.
Americans United for Separation of Church and State reports that a federal court in Alabama today struck down Chief Justice Roy Moore's display of a Ten Commandments monument at the state supreme court building in Montgomery, declaring that the religious sculpture violates the First Amendment's church-state separation provisions.
We went to Rainforest Cafe in Towson Town Center for Donna's birthday and I had a Chocolate Banana Blast and catfish platter. It was definately a fun place to go for a birthday.
The Homeland Security Act advances in the Senate. The Homeland Security Act passed the Senate today with a vote of 90-9. An angel loses his wings today, I'm sure of it.
Fox News reports that the so-called terrorist cell arrested in Baltimore on September 11, 2002 have been cleared of all charges but immigration issues.
Road-side breathalyzer tests for drug use are available in the U.S. Phil Darnowsky says to consider that "sobriety checkpoints" are a common practice in many
jurisdictions, and the Supreme Court has ruled that passengers in a car can be ordered out and searched during traffic stops. What happens when you put these two together?
Today is National Ammo Day.
