Why can't more kids hack like this?
News:
Today Freeman A. Hrabowski, III wrote to UMBC to say, "Due to the continuing decline in State revenues, Maryland's Department of Budget and Management has expanded restrictions related to the statewide hiring freeze to include the University System of Maryland.
Therefore, the Chancellor has required each institution to implement a hiring freeze immediately."
Activism today:
Copied from a forward going around the Baltimore, MD area:
President Bush will be in Baltimore on Wednesday to campaign for his war in Iraq and Bob Ehrlich.
When in Congress, Bob Ehrlich voted to cancel the school lunch and breakfast
programs, to deny food stamps to immigrant children, to cut WIC funding, and
he voted against raising the minimum wage. He is not the governor this
state, or this city needs.
As for Bush's war, it will drain billions from
schools, neighborhoods and other domestic projects and funnel it to
multinational defense corporations, to inflict devastation on the Iraqi
people, already immiserated by our economic sanctions.
350,000 marched against the war in England-- let's show Bush that wherever HE goes (even Baltimore!), voices for peace and justice will ring loudly in his ears.
The gathering site for the protest against Bush's visit has been changed to the open space between the Maryland Science Center and Light Street Pavilion--at the Inner Harbor. The change is due to more up-to-date
information on Bush's route.
