Thanks to Geren W. Mortensen, Jr. for pointing out that most of my Beach Burn photographs should actually be located in Assateague Island, MD and not Berlin, MD, since they're two seperate places.

UMBC professor Uri Tasch designed the Reaction Force Detection (RFD) system for monitoring lameness in livestock. Lameness is difficult to detect early and leads to more serious injuries if not presented. So the RFD measures the force and duration of an animal's steps as it walks across a platform and sees if the animal is favoring certain feet as it walks across. Tasch just won the Maryland Innovator of the Year Award in 2002 for his research.

Thanks to Dean McKenzie for helping us move again, and to Dave Dudich for his last-minute efforts to get all the furniture into the house. You guys rock.
